DRAWING CLOTHING

You’ll notice that all of the characters in this chapter have
outfits. Drawing clothing is one of those fun things that we
get to do when we are drawing characters. So before we
jump into drawing action and movement, I want to take a
second to give you a few fashion tips.

The trick when drawing clothing is that you really have to
know your fabric. Depending on the type you use—the way
it folds, bunches, and moves—it will look very different. For
example, silk is very smooth but creases and folds easily at
every bend. Jeans, on the other hand, are much more stiff,
wrinkling only at the knees and crotch. The most important
thing to remember is that this is manga, so have fun with
your clothing, and think outside the box. Okay, designers,
let’s get to work!

PANTS

Take note that the fabric bunches at the crotch, at the knees, and at the
hem.
