1. SCOPE OF WORK



The Roadway Excavation covers soil digging, cutting,and grading for roadway construction at
South Border Infrastructure Projects of the MOI up to the working level (design subgrade) and
as determined by the Engineer when the area of soil excavation is found to be unsuitable to
carry the design load for the roadway.




2. PURPOSE


To describe and outline the methodology and work procedures for Roadway Excavation
utilizing equipment such as Bulldozer, Grader, Backhoe for digging soils, and Dump Trucks for
soil disposal.

7.7.2 Bituminous Asphalt Paver equipment shall be of type which conforms to the
technical requirements specified in the project technical specifications and as
approved by the consultant.



7.8 TRIAL SECTION
7.8.1 A trial section of 500m² shall be constructed.



7.9 TOLERANCES:

Allowable tolerances for compacted layer shall of the following:


ALLOWABLE VARIATION FROM DESIGN THICKNESS (in mm)

Thickness of Layer ±10

Surface Level +5, -10

Surface Irregularity measured by 3-m straight edge 5

Longitudinal Grade over 25m length +0.1%







8. QUALITY:

DESCRIPTION OF WORK IN-CHARGE

The QA/QC Manager will monitor and ensure that this Method Statement
shall be strictly enforced so that smooth Work Flow will be attained and
prior work compliance obtained such as the following:


8.1 Materials Submittal. All required materials approved by the
consultant

8.2 Approved Drawings. All relevant drawings such as Base elevations
and line grade cross-sections shall be approved by the consultant prior
to commencing work.

8.3 Routine Work. The SE, QCE, together with the Surveyor shall
constantly monitor the work operation to conform with the design
elevations and line grade cross-sections.

9. SAFETY:

DESCRIPTION OF WORK IN-CHARGE

The Safety Officer of the contractor and the Survey Team together with
the QA/QC Team shall work together in the prevention of any work
related accidents in the job site.

The following safety requirements must always be observed and adhered
in the site at all times:


9.1 Safe means of access when working on grading area will be
provided & maintained.

9.2 Appropriate wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
shall be observed.
