Permanent Shadows is the second book in the YA Paranormal Romance series, The Punishment Sequence.
Permanent Shadows by C.E. Wilson is the second book in the Punishment Sequence that tells the story of Cailin a pixi who is sent to live with humans as a form of punishment.
I thought Oath of Servitude was good but Permanent Shadows was great! It was so much better! Mostly in the writing. It was more fluid this time around which makes all the difference and was more enjoyable to read. C.E. Wilson is one of those authors that gets better with each book; she’s an author to lookout for in my opinion.
I love Cailin, she really is one of my favorite characters that I’ve read in a while. She is smart, stubborn, and spunky – which makes her totally relatable and likable. While she does get too emotional at times she doesn’t let those emotions control her, which makes her such a strong character.
Teague is kept in the dark both physically and figuratively from a lot of things in his life. He has some major revelations that are unfolded as the story progresses. I was surprised at how well he handled everything. He has some major character growth in this series.
I am looking forward to see how Cailin and Teague’s relationship progresses. At first when I read Oath of Servitude I was a little wary about how I felt about them being together. I mean Cailin is a foot tall pixi and Teague is a blind human, how is that suppose to work? But the thing is it just does! They have really good chemistry/relationship/understanding whatever you want to call it. I’m fan now and am rooting for them!
I loved all the twists and turns the story takes in this book. It was unpredictable and I was engrossed with this story the whole time while reading!
Overall all Permanent Shadows was an amazing follow up! If you liked Oath of Servitude you will LOVE Permanent Shadows! If you haven’t read book one yet and you like to read YA Fantasy books then you should absolutely try this series! You won’t regret it!
And ohmygosh that ending!
I don’t want to give anything away but..
The ending + my feels = I NEED the next book now!
I give this book 4/5 stars!
